Joining the Great Conversation
What is the purpose of education?
For many, the answer is straightforward: preparation for college, a career, or future success. While these outcomes matter, Christian education must aim higher. At Front Range Christian School, we believe education is fundamentally an invitation—an invitation into what has often been called the Great Conversation.
The Great Conversation is the ongoing dialogue that spans generations, cultures, disciplines, and centuries. It is the conversation about truth, goodness, beauty, justice, purpose, and ultimately, God Himself. It is a conversation that includes Scripture, theology, literature, history, mathematics, science, philosophy, and the arts. It is the conversation that asks not merely, “What can I do?” but “What kind of person should I become?”
Our aim is to invite students into the Great Conversation of Christian liberal arts education, where faith illumines intellect and intellect nurtures faith. Through intellectual rigor mediated by love, we seek to equip them to become Christian scholars marked by cogent thought, articulate speech, and faithful engagement with God’s world.
In a culture that often separates faith from learning, Christian education offers a better way. We believe that all truth is God’s truth. The study of biology reveals the wonder of God’s creation. Mathematics displays His order and consistency. Literature explores the human condition. History tells the story of God’s providence unfolding through time. Every subject becomes an opportunity to love God with our minds.
Yet knowledge alone is insufficient.
The goal of Christian education is not merely the accumulation of information but the formation of wisdom and character. This is why Front Range Christian School intentionally seeks to cultivate the Virtues of a Christian Scholar.
We desire students who demonstrate FAITH, believing in a biblical foundation for all learning. We seek to develop COURAGE, enabling them to pursue truth even when doing so is costly. We value INTEGRITY, expecting honesty and ethical conduct in both academic work and daily life.
In a world increasingly defined by consumption, we encourage CREATIVITY, teaching students to become culture-makers rather than merely culture critics. We cultivate ELOQUENCE, helping students communicate clearly, thoughtfully, and persuasively in speech, writing, and action.
At the same time, we recognize that genuine scholarship requires HUMILITY. The more we learn, the more we discover how much remains unknown. Christian scholars approach knowledge with confidence grounded not in themselves but in Christ.
We also emphasize DILIGENCE, encouraging students to pursue excellence for God’s glory rather than personal recognition. We foster FIRMNESS, equipping them to engage respectfully and thoughtfully with those who hold differing viewpoints. In an increasingly polarized world, this virtue is more necessary than ever.
Above all, we seek to cultivate LOVE. The Apostle Paul reminds us that knowledge without love is empty. Academic achievement divorced from charity ultimately fails to reflect the character of Christ. Love must shape how we learn, how we teach, and how we engage with others.
Finally, we encourage BALANCE, helping students pursue life and learning with wisdom, moderation, and proper priorities. Education should enrich the whole person—mind, heart, soul, and strength.
These virtues are not extracurricular goals. They are central to our mission. They define what it means to become a Christian scholar.
At Front Range Christian School, we are not simply preparing students for the next test, the next grade level, or even the next stage of life. We are preparing them to participate faithfully in God’s world. We are teaching them to think clearly, communicate persuasively, discern wisely, and love deeply.
The Great Conversation continues in every classroom, every discussion, every book read, every experiment conducted, and every question honestly pursued. Our privilege as educators is to invite students into that conversation and help them discover that all wisdom ultimately finds its source in Jesus Christ.
As Christian educators and parents, we have the opportunity to raise up a generation of scholars who are intellectually rigorous, spiritually grounded, and deeply committed to serving others. Such students will not simply succeed in the world; they will be prepared to influence it for the glory of God.
That is the vision of Christian education. That is the work of Front Range Christian School. And that is the conversation to which we invite every student.
