Editor’s note: Ethan Martin (class of 2027) is the Vice President of the Senior High Student Leadership Coalition (SLC).
My name is Ethan Martin and I am a Junior at FRCS. Beginning my freshman year when I enrolled in this stellar community I have been positively influenced to grow my faith, increase my vulnerability with others, and stretch my leadership abilities in order to flourish. My time at Front Range has been incredible! I have participated in almost everything here from sports, to student leadership, to advanced classes, and even awesome out of country advocacy practicums. But by far my favorite part about Front Range is the community of faithful peers it has provided me.
In Acts 2, we see that a life-giving community centered on the words of Jesus is magnetic and life changing. And the community of Front Range truly has been that for me. I have gained valuable friends who have allowed me to be vulnerable with them when I am struggling and I can always count on them no matter what. This is how I found out that life with people you trust is so important. But what’s more important is making sure that you also have people around you that are more mature in their walk with God. This has been extremely valuable for me especially when I am confused or even doubtful. I have always had teachers or older students to look up to and learn from in those situations. I am very grateful for all of my teachers as they sacrifice a lot to pour into my life as well as my peers’ lives and give us space to grow in our faith. I have felt the effects of a life giving community centered on the words of Jesus and it is more valuable than I could put words to. The writer of Ecclesiastes puts it, “Two are better than one…A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” I have experienced exactly that here at Front Range.
The past three years have given me great opportunities to stretch my leadership abilities whether that be in sports or in the classroom. This community has taught me plenty about what it means to be a servant leader. I’ve learned that leadership isn’t always about recognition or being in charge, but about showing up for others, putting their needs before your own, and leading with humility. Whether that’s encouraging a teammate, helping a classmate, or stepping up when something needs to get done, Front Range has shown me that leadership is rooted in service.
As I continue through my time here and look ahead to my senior year, I hope to pour back into this community the same way it has poured into me. I want to be someone who encourages others to grow in their faith, to step outside of their comfort zones, and to build meaningful relationships that will last far beyond high school. Front Range is more than just a Christian school, it’s a place that shapes who you are becoming. I am incredibly thankful for the people, the opportunities, and the environments that have helped me grow not just academically, but spiritually and personally as well. The impact this community has had on me is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
