It is always exciting and humbling to see one of our students model what it really means to be a Christian Scholar, and this past week, we had an exemplary example in Jake Dreiling (class of 2027). Following is the story in the words of the person most impacted by Jake’s selfless act of service, Holy Grounds Manager Angela Ramirez. I just want to acknowledge Jake.
I was slammed during senior high lunch today in Holy Grounds, with the line basically out the door, and I was by myself. It’s really impossible for one person to serve that many high schoolers efficiently in the allotted amount of time. Jake noticed a need and asked me if I needed help. He came back and started taking direction, serving, and also taking orders on the computer for me. He was really professional, efficient, and super helpful. I couldn’t have done it without him.
I just wanted you all to know how selfless he was by giving up time to eat his own lunch, and he was also trying to get to the college fair on time but didn’t actually leave until 1:10 — after the fair started. He didn’t know this, but the mother of the scheduled volunteer was rushed to the ER last minute and so couldn’t make it in to help. But Jake noticed a need and selflessly jumped in when needed.
