Rise

Developing the whole child by meeting students where they are.

RISE is a unique, Christ-centered educational program offering targeted instruction in core subjects within the RISE classroom and, when appropriate, the regular classroom setting. RISE enables junior and senior high students with specific learning disabilities to receive modified curriculum for core academic subjects and to develop their God-given talents and abilities in a safe and encouraging atmosphere. Taught by nurturing, godly instructors, the program educates the whole child in social, academic, and spiritual training. It is the only faith-based special education program of its kind in the Denver area.

RISE is for students who:

  • Have a specific learning disability, including cognitive delays
  • Require a modified curriculum for most or all core academic subjects

RISE students receive an education tailored to their needs with an emphasis on real world applications. Each student has a Student Achievement Strategy (SAS) document. The Plan summarizes the student’s strengths and specific needs and outlines the suggested modifications/accommodations the school can provide. SAS document are updated annually to facilitate a smooth transition from one grade to the next.

RISE classes offer a low student/teacher ratio of 6.5:1 capitalizing on individualized attention.

In addition to core academics offered in RISE, students have the opportunity to participate in electives, sports, theater, music, and other extracurriculars (when appropriate) with the greater FRCS student body providing a rich experience for students with special needs.

RISE, and FRCS as a whole, recognize that all students are people created in the image of God (Gen 1:26-27) and are essential members with gifts to share. This means embedding students with differing abilities into the regular community to the greatest extent possible, celebrating uniqueness as it embodies the economy of God and His kingdom. When issues arise, RISE and FRCS respond with restorative practice as it paints a picture of shalom-holy peace and recognition of God’s image in each other. With this in mind, due to the nature of an inclusive community, different situations may arise that require implementation of safety precautions, specific boundaries and/or consequences for the sake of the community as a whole.

RISE offers competitive tuition rates and is a one-of-a-kind, faith-based educational program for students with learning differences.
