Elementary Notes

We’re almost through the first week of school and so far things are going well. We have a few notes and reminders for parents as the week comes to a close. If you have questions, please email Lisa at lnewell@www.frcs.org.

Drop Off

Help us make student drop off in the morning run as smoothly as possible:

  • Students should unbuckle as you approach the entrance, before an FRCS staff member opens the car door for them.
  • Students should gather all items (backpack, jacket, water bottle) and be ready to exit the vehicle when the door is opened.
  • To keep the line moving, please say your goodbyes before the FRCS staff member approaches the vehicle.
  • Families who also have students in the ECE may park and walk students to both the ECE doors and Elementary doors. All other families should use the car line.
  • Students should not exit the car until the FRCS staff member opens the door.
  • After dropping off at the elementary, vehicles should turn west, go around the building, and exit near Angie’s Restaurant.

Pick Up

To make student pick up run smoothly and to help us be good neighbors to surrounding businesses, please remember:

  • to exit the street and enter the parking lot as quickly as possible.
  • to leave almost no space between vehicles when waiting in line; please stay close behind the car in front of you.
  • to pull into a parking spot in the lower parking lot if you need to help your child buckle his or her seatbelt.
  • vehicles from the west side pick-up (lower elementary) have the right-of-way; vehicles departing the upper elementary line should stop and check for cars coming from the west.
  • vehicles entering near Angie’s Restaurant should “hug” the shoulder as much as possible. (Angie’s employees come and go at the same time school is dismissed)
  • to make sure your car card is visible to FRCS staff (often, we can not see the card if it is on the dash; consider placing it on your passenger-side visor).

Other Notes

Sometimes we need to call you during the day regarding your student (e.g., if your child is injured or ill). When office staff calls, please make every effort to answer your phone. If you are not able to answer when we call, please make sure we can leave a message. Often times, voicemail boxes are full, and we cannot.

Please send your student to school with a water bottle every day.

The school does not provide utensils for lunch, so students should pack what they need in their lunch sacks each day.

Thank you!

At FRCS, students are challenged to think for themselves: to pursue questions of purpose and faith; to think critically about the world around them so that they can engage it, not avoid it; to make their faith their own so that they can remain strong in it even after they graduate
