Mathematics Department

The vision of the Mathematics department is for students to gain a greater understanding of how detailed, intricate, and awesome God is, and to see that His design is perfectly ordered, specific, and purposeful. It is our hope that our students use their unique talents to best serve the world and their Creator.

The courses for the curriculum are Math X, Math Y, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry, Math Applications, Statistics, and AP Calculus.

To meet the current college track graduation requirements, students MUST complete four credits in Mathematics within their high school years. High school credit will not be given to 8th grade students who complete Algebra I and Geometry during their 8th grade year.

The Pillars of the Mathematics Department

  1. Identify and describe patterns
  2. Make generalizations when a repeated calculation occurs
  3. Accurately describe reasons behind mathematical procedures
  4. Represent and describe mathematical and statistical patterns
  1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them
  2. Attend to precision in mathematical and statistical language and processes
  3. Tinker productively with mathematical and statistical ideas and problems
  4. Courageously try a new approach when needed
  1. Conjecture and reason inductively and deductively
  2. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others
  3. Reflect on truth and how it informs ourselves and our world
  1. Use representations to examine multiple mathematical and statistical points of view
  2. Represent mathematical and statistical situations symbolically
  3. Use appropriate tools, including technology, strategically
