Participation Requirements

Athletic Packet

All FRCS Student Athletes must turn in a completed Athletic Packet in order to participate in FRCS Sports. All forms in the packet must be completed and signed (some by a doctor).

All athletes must have a sports physical each academic year and be certified as eligible to begin the year upon a review of their previous academic year grades based on CHSAA and FRCS requirements.

Note: forms are mostly digital; start by the filling out the form acknowledging that you have read and agree to the terms in the packet.

Eligibility Checks

Once the academic year begins at FRCS, eligibility checks are conducted once per quarter. If an athlete fails to meet the conditions below, he or she will be ineligible to compete in any scrimmages or competitions until the next eligibility report cycle (quarterly). The athlete must:

  • Be in a minimum of 2.5 Carnegie units each semester
  • Not have a grade of an “F” in any class

Game Day Requirements

Students must be in attendance no later than 10:30am on the day of a competition and be in attendance the remainder of the day (or the Friday before a Saturday competition) in order to participate. The only exceptions to this policy are the following:

  • Pre-approved college visits
  • School sponsored activities or mission opportunities
  • Doctor or dentist appointments (a note from the doctor may be required)
  • Extenuating circumstances approved by the Athletic Director

Other Considerations

FRCS, CHSAA, and each athletic program has additional policies that govern a student’s participation in athletics at Front Range Christian; be sure to check with the coach for the policies affecting individual sports.

Students not enrolled full-time with FRCS (including part time students)

Students who are not full-time with FRCS must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible to play a team sport:

  1. Must be enrolled with us as a part-time student, taking at least one course, during the semester in which their sports season runs (spring semester required for winter sports)
    • Requires submission of an enrollment application and completion of a family interview with an administrator. Part-time students must re-enroll each academic year.
  2. Must attend an accredited, high school diploma-granting institution that does not offer the team sport that student wishes to play and be on track to receive a diploma from that institution
    • Requires submission of an academic transcript, institution contact information, and signed statement that affirms student eligibility

Deadlines

Student must have fully completed and submitted either an admissions application or an affirmation of outside eligibility by the following dates in order to play:

  • Fall Season – last Friday of the first full week in September
  • Winter Season – last Friday of the first full week in December
  • Spring Season – last Friday of the month of January

Maintaining Eligibility

To maintain eligibility through part-time enrollment at FRCS for the next sports season or academic year, the student must attend and pass all courses that they are enrolled in. To maintain outside eligibility for the next sports season or academic year, the student must submit an updated, current transcript to affirm that they are still enrolled at and on track to graduate from a high school degree-granting institution.

“Game Day Requirements” and “Other Considerations” under full-time student requirements must also be met.

Note: Neither attendance in a homeschool enrichment program that does not grant official diplomas nor enrollment in a college course count for outside eligibility to play sports at Front Range Christian School. Students must be enrolled with FRCS, at least part-time, or be actively working toward receiving an official high school diploma from another accredited institution in order to receive sports eligibility.
