Sign up for these classes begins January 15 and closes on January 21 at 8am. They are open to FRCS Elementary students as extracurricular DEEP classes, which meet over six weeks on Thursdays after school. Elementary parents were sent an email with sign up instructions, specific dates, and cost details.
Game On! Board Game Design & Play
Join us for a fun-filled exploration of the wonderful world of board games! In this hands-on elective, students in grades 1-3 will discover classic and modern board games while developing critical thinking, strategy, and social skills.
Throughout the course, students will play a variety of engaging board games that encourage turn-taking, problem-solving, and friendly competition. As we explore different game mechanics and styles, students will learn what makes games exciting, fair, and fun to play.
The class will culminate in an exciting final project where each student designs and creates their own original board game. Young game designers will brainstorm themes, develop rules, create game boards and pieces, and playtest their creations with classmates. This creative process helps students think like inventors while practicing planning, writing, and artistic skills.
Whether your child loves strategy games, cooperative challenges, or creative storytelling, this class offers something for every young gamer. Let the games begin!

Fitness and fun!
A circuit training class for kids who want to learn how to exercise and have fun! This will be a class for anyone who is serious about learning how to move and train to improve cardiovascular health and strength. Also, discovering how we can eat better and find ways to exercise doing things we love.
Fitness and fun is for kids who may not like regular sports, but want to explore ways they can exercise and move in a way they enjoy! Fitness is for everyone and you don’t have to be good at dribbling a basketball or soccer ball to do this class! We all have things we enjoy when it comes to moving! Give it a try!

Yearbook Club
Capture the moments that matter! If you’re a 6th grader who loves photography, design, or storytelling, join our new elementary yearbook club and help create something the whole school will treasure.
As part of this DEEP course, you’ll join a small editorial team working hands-on to design pages of our elementary yearbook. You’ll learn to photograph special events in lower elementary classes, curate the best content for yearbook spreads, and edit photos that bring our school’s story to life, all while working within this year’s creative theme.
Working directly with Mrs. Hollohan, you’ll gain real publishing experience and get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how the 2025/2026 yearbook comes together. This is your chance to build skills in photography, design, and collaboration while helping preserve memories for years to come.

Fun with Food
Join us for a delicious hands-on culinary adventure designed especially for young chefs! In this interactive cooking class, students will build confidence in the kitchen while discovering that cooking can be both fun and rewarding.
Throughout the course, participants will learn and practice essential cooking skills that will serve them for years to come. Students will master the art of reading and following recipes, understanding the importance of accurate measurements for both dry and wet ingredients, and becoming familiar with common kitchen tools and equipment. We’ll explore basic cooking techniques, kitchen safety, and proper food handling practices in a safe and supportive environment.
Each session will feature age-appropriate recipes that students will prepare from start to finish, giving them the satisfaction of creating something delicious they can share and enjoy. From mixing and measuring to chopping (with supervision) and combining ingredients, students will gain practical experience while having a blast. By the end of the course, your young chef will have a newfound appreciation for cooking and a toolkit of skills they can use at home.

Beginning Spanish
Embark on an exciting linguistic adventure as students begin their journey into the Spanish language! This foundational course introduces young learners to basic Spanish through engaging, age-appropriate activities led by a native Spanish speaker who brings authentic language experience and cultural insights to the classroom.
Students will develop essential communication skills in Spanish, including:
- Vocabulary Building: Learning common words and phrases for everyday situations, including greetings, numbers, colors, family members, animals, food, and classroom objects
- Conversational Practice: Engaging in simple dialogues and responding to basic questions in Spanish
- Pronunciation: Developing proper Spanish pronunciation through repetition, songs, and interactive speaking activities
The course uses an immersive, interactive approach that capitalizes on young children’s natural language acquisition abilities. Through songs, games, storytelling, movement activities, and hands-on projects, students will build confidence in using Spanish while having fun.
By the end of this course, students will have established a foundation in Spanish basics and developed enthusiasm for continued language learning. The small class size ensures personalized attention and ample opportunities for each student to practice speaking and receive individualized feedback.
Prerequisites: None – this course is designed for students with little to no prior Spanish experience.
