Auditions

Auditions give the directors time to evaluate each student’s ability in the areas of acting, singing and dancing. Every student that auditions will have a role in Mary Poppins, but the auditions help us to place them in the appropriate roles based on their levels and their availability for rehearsals. Please keep in mind that a student may be a wonderful singer and actor and still not get their desired role. There are many factors that go into casting. Which students sing well together? Is there chemistry between the people we are considering for specific roles? Do students have conflicts that would interfere with their ability to be a main character? Please trust us as we evaluate each audition and select the cast for this show. Pray for us to have wisdom in our decision making.

Audition Etiquette:

  1. Auditions are closed, meaning that only students seeking roles are admitted. This includes call backs.
  2. Be on time! Don’t arrive late!
  3. Be prepared! Be sure to complete your audition form before your audition; it must also be completed and signed by your parent! Bring a printed copy of it to your audition.
  4. Do not come to auditions the way you came to school! Special thought should be given to how you present yourself for auditions. You should not come to auditions in jeans as you can’t dance well in jeans. You shouldn’t come in baggy clothing that would distract from your audition. Think of it as a job interview. Present yourself for the job you are asking for (stay in dress code!) Ladies, your hair should be pulled back from your face. Bring appropriate shoes for dancing, you may wear leggings for the dance audition, but be mindful of the shirt that you wear.
  5. Be respectful! Again, you are asking for a role in the musical. We should not need to ask for your attention during auditions. You should come ready to listen, learn and ready to perform your skills!

At FRCS, students are challenged to think for themselves: to pursue questions of purpose and faith; to think critically about the world around them so that they can engage it, not avoid it; to make their faith their own so that they can remain strong in it even after they graduate
