A word from … Jill Hart

Editor’s note: Jill Hart is FRCS’s Elementary Principal

The month of February brings a special kind of excitement to students kindergarten through 6th grade as we turn our attention toward the Great Commission during Missions Month. For over 20 years, Missions Month has been a cherished tradition at FRCS Elementary, drawing students’ hearts toward loving and serving others both around the world and in our own backyards in the name of Christ.

Each year, FRCS selects both an international and local project to support through our prayers and resources. This year, our international ministry partner is Torchgrab Africa, which serves vulnerable children in the slums of Nairobi and Mombasa, Kenya, at Petra School on the Rock. This Christ-centered school is committed to caring for the whole child through education, opportunities, and ministry. Learn more about Torchgrab Africa in their 2025 Annual Report (with video).

Our local ministry partner is Love Inc, an organization that works with churches in and around the Southwest Denver Metro area to provide support and services in the name of Christ. They mobilize the local church to offer a holistic approach to caring for people in all areas of life: spiritual, emotional, relational, and physical. Learn more about Love Inc Littleton on their website.

Both of our ministry partners are committed to sharing the good news of Jesus while meeting the physical needs of those they serve.

We launch the month by giving each student a dollar to use and grow to benefit our ministry partners. We call this the “Seed Money Project.” Students are wildly creative in finding ways to multiply the dollar they are given. Some have made and sold crafts or baked goods, while others have shoveled snow or completed yard work projects for friends, families, and neighbors. It truly doesn’t matter what the project is or even how much we raise for these worthy organizations. What matters most is that we are teaching our students to obediently follow Christ’s commands and to help His kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.

So if, after our next snowstorm, an enthusiastic elementary student asks if he or she can shovel your driveway, please say yes! We invite our entire FRCS community to partner with our students this month as they learn what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ.

At FRCS, students are challenged to think for themselves: to pursue questions of purpose and faith; to think critically about the world around them so that they can engage it, not avoid it; to make their faith their own so that they can remain strong in it even after they graduate
