SUMMARY:Executive Functioning Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Brought to you by the FRCS Learning Services Department. \nThis 60-minute workshop provides caregivers and families with an understanding of Executive Function (EF) skills and their role in nurturing success at school\, home\, and beyond. Participants will learn how EF skills and beahvior are interconnected. They will learn how to connect specific behaviors with executive dysfunction. Next\, participants will explore tools and strategies they an use to support their student at home. The session ends with a Q&A to equip participants with practical tools and resources to enhance their child’s EF skills. \nObjectives\n\nUnderstand how Executive Function skills are fundamental for success in school\, home life\, and beyond.\nConnect specific beahvior with executive dysfunction.\nExplore tools and strategies that parents and families can use to support and develop their child’s Executive Function skills.\nParticipate in a Q&A session\n\nThis digital workshop is Tuesday\, September 22\, from 6-7pm. SUMMARY:Learning Services Workshop
DESCRIPTION:At FRCS\, our mission is “to partner with the Christian home and the church in training children for life and equipping them to impact the world for Christ.” \nWithin Learning Services\, we strongly believe that our students are most successful when we are able to partner with the home because learning happens everywhere. Each of our parents has already made a significantly impactful decision in choosing FRCS’s teachers and community to come alongside them in raising up their students in an academically rigorous environment. \nTo further the partnership between home and the school\, the Learning Services invites parents to participate in a 3-part series of workshops geared toward understanding how your child’s brain works and providing practical tools and strategies to support them at home. \nDuring the first workshop\, we will outline the structure of our Learning Services department and help you understand the types of support and resources we offer from preschool through 12th grade. \nAt the second workshop\, we will dive deep into the mind of students with dyslexia using a simulation designed by the Dyslexia Training Institute. \nTo conclude the series\, we will explore a variety of different learning differences including ADHD\, anxiety\, dyscalculia and more. This exploration includes ways in which you can support these learning differences at home\, reinforcing what students experience at school. \nYou are not required to attend all 3 sessions if you register for the workshop. You are invited to all three\, but are welcome to attend whichever best fits your needs as a parent. Sessions are in January on Thursdays (15\, 22\, and 29)\, from 5:30-7pm. Childcare is available for $5 per family\, with the option to donate more to support our school programs. \nRSVP FOR WORKSHOP
