SUMMARY:Junior High DIVE Community Day
DESCRIPTION:Parents\, you are invited to Junior High DIVE Community Day. Eighth grade students have worked really hard on their DIVE projects\, and we would love for you to come and celebrate them with us. \nWhat is DIVE?\nAll 8th grade students take a class called DIVE. DIVE stands for Discover\, Investigate\, Visualize\, and Express and is intended for students to explore different ideas that bring them life. The thinking is that students will be more engaged in meaningful learning when they are given the freedom to choose topics that matter to them. Through these experiences\, we believe that students learn important skills to prepare them for high school\, but more importantly become more like the person the LORD created them to be. \nWhat is DIVE Day?\nDIVE day serves as an extension of our Junior High Community days which exist to build the community between 7th and 8th grade students and their families. Since January\, students have been engaging with these ideas and experiences. DIVE day serves as an opportunity for them to teach us what they have learned about their topic and themselves. \nThe Schedule\n\n8:00 – 9:00 – 8th grade setup; 7th grade Classrooms\n9:15 -10:15 – Community Day Festivities begin in the PAC (parents are welcome and encouraged to attend)\n10:25-11:25 – Group 1 presentations (in PAC)\, followed by a showcase\n11:30-12:15 – Lunch in the Commons.\n12:25 -1:25 – Group 2 (in PAC)\, followed by a showcase\n1:25-2:25 – Group 3 Presentations\, presentations (in PAC)\, followed by a showcase in the gym\n2:30-3:00 – Community wrap-up in the PAC\n\n

SUMMARY:Iowa Assessments (grades 7-10)
DESCRIPTION:Students should arrive at school by 7:40am and must be in their assigned classrooms by 7:50am to begin the Iowa Assessments on time. Testing should be completed by 1pm for freshmen and sophomores and 2:15pm for junior high students. Students are dismissed at the conclusion of testing. Please be present to pick up your student at the designated time\, as there will be no supervision on campus outside the testing times. \nA Digital Assessment\nThis assessment is completely digital so students must bring their computer or iPad (note that student-owned Chromebooks will not work); junior high students will use a school-owned device. Please make sure the devices are fully charged and that students bring a charger with them on test day. \nStudents should also bring their calculator. \nAbout the Assessments\nThe Iowa Assessments help us determine how our students are performing compared to nationwide standards. These assessments measure achievement in several important content areas including Reading\, English Language Arts\, Mathematics\, Science\, and Social Studies. The exact tests each student takes depends on his or her grade level. \nThe Iowa Assessments also measure student growth and progress in the content areas assessed from year to year and provide information about college readiness for older students. \nPreparing for Test Day\nA student who is well rested and fed and who has a positive attitude about testing is best prepared for testing. You can help your student do his or her best by considering these tips: \n\nMake sure that your student is in school and on time on the test day. Reschedule dentist appointments and other out-of-school time for non-testing days.\nMake sure your student gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before testing.\nRemind your student that these tests are only one measure of what he or she has learned. Emphasize that you have confidence in his or her ability to do the best job possible.\nRemind your student to listen to the directions and read each question carefully during testing. Encourage your student to ask the teacher for help if he or she does not understand the directions.\n\nScore Reporting\nThe school will receive test scores about 6 weeks after test day. The scores indicate how your student performed on the tests compared with students across the nation in the same grade. FRCS will release testing information once we receive the results. \nThank you very much for encouraging & supporting your student during testing. If you have any questions or concerns\, please contact the Guidance Department.

SUMMARY:Junior High Fall Community Day
DESCRIPTION:This special day is designed to help students reflect on their first quarter of junior high and the goals they set during their fall retreats—especially around the theme of cooperation\, trust and community. \nBut this day isn’t just for students\, it’s also a unique opportunity for parents to gather together\, connect with other junior high families\, and reflect on what God is doing in our community this year. SUMMARY:Jr High DIVE Community Day
DESCRIPTION:Parents\, you are invited to Junior High DIVE Community Day. Eighth grade students have worked really hard on their DIVE projects\, and we would love for you to come and celebrate them with us. \nWhat is DIVE?\nAll 8th grade students take a class called DIVE. DIVE stands for Dynamic Inquiry of Virtuous Experiences and is intended for students to explore different ideas that bring them life. The thinking is that students will be more engaged in meaningful learning when they are given the freedom to choose topics that matter to them. Through these experiences\, we believe that students will learn important skills to prepare them for high school\, but more importantly become more like the person the LORD created them to be. \nWhat is DIVE Day?\nDIVE day serves as an extension of our Junior High Community days which exist to build the community between families of 7th and 8th grade students. These past 10 weeks\, students have been engaging with these very ideas and experiences. DIVE day serves as an opportunity for them to teach us what they have learned about their topic and themselves. \nSchedule\n\n\n\n8:40-8:55am\nHomeroom (JH go for attendance)\n\n\n8:55-9:35am\nJunior High Chapel (parents are welcome and encouraged to attend)\n\n\n9:45-10:35am\n8th grade setup; 7th grade breakout; junior high parents breakout\n\n\n10:45-11:35am\nGroup 1 presentations (in PAC)\, followed by a showcase in the gym\n\n\n11:45am-12:25pm\nLunch in the Commons (Qdoba); parents are invited to join us\, as this is a great time to encourage 8th graders before their presentations.
