SUMMARY:Spring Musical Auditions
DESCRIPTION:Calling all students grades 4-12 who are interested in being in the spring musical: Mary Poppins! \nAuditions are January 7\, 8\, 9\, and 12 — see specifics below — after school. Audition packets follow the schedule\, and they must be signed and filled out by both you and your parent/guardian. \nThis year\, elementary students have the opportunity to audition for a main role: Jane and Michael Banks (keep in mind that junior high and senior high students also have the chance to audition for these two roles; casting decisions are based on auditions and how other roles are cast). Students who are interested should talk to their parents and discuss the responsibilities involved with a main role\, including time commitment\, memorizing lines\, learning blocking and choreography\, and more. Be sure that you are willing to take on this type of commitment before auditioning for one of these roles. See the Elementary Audition Form for more details. \nElementary Audition Form | Jr/Sr High Audition Form \nAudition Schedule\nJanuary 7 \n\n3:15-4pm: Elementary Jane and Michael Banks auditions; students must prepare a song that is not from the show\, and must either email their vocal track to Mrs. Nikkel (jnikkel@frcs.org) to use for their audition or bring a device to play the vocal track from. If you are emailing your track\, please do so at least one day in advance of your audition. You must also prepare a one-minute monologue for the audition; students sign up for a 5-minute audition slot (sign up here)\n\nJanuary 8 \n\n3:15-5pm: Jr/Sr High ensemble; all students grades 7-12 who want to participate must attend\, even if they are auditioning for a main role; the audition includes learning a short dance to be performed in a small group and singing in small groups\nStarting at 5:30pm: Jr/Sr High main and supporting roles; students must sign up for a 5-minute audition slot (the signup sheet is outside Mrs. Payne’s room) and prepare a 1-minute monologue and a song for the audition. students must prepare a song that is not from the show\, and must either email their vocal track to Mrs. Nikkel (jnikkel@frcs.org) to use for their audition or bring a device to play the vocal track from. If you are emailing your track\, please do so at least one day in advance of your audition.\n\nJanuary 9 from 3:15-6pm: Callbacks \n\nStudents who auditioned for a main or supporting role will receive an email that will include a list of the students who have received a callback.  Not all who audition will receive a callback\, but all will be in the show!\nCallbacks involve reading or singing with other students to see how different groupings fit together and interact with each other to find the best person for each role; an invitation to callbacks does not guarantee a main or supporting role.\n\nSunday\, January 11 \n\nThe Jr/Sr High cast list will be announced through an email!\nAll Jr/Sr High students who auditioned will receive the cast list as will parents of elementary students who auditioned for Jane or Michael Banks.\n\nMonday\, January 12 \n\n3:15-5pm: Elementary ensemble auditions; students will learn a short dance which they will perform in small groups for the audition. Those who audition will also sing with Mrs. Nikkel.\n\nWednesday\, January 14 \n\nFull cast and parent meeting\n\n3:15-5:15: Full junior and senior high cast read through in the PAC\n5:15-6:30: Jr/Sr High headshots\, bios\, and costume measurements\n5:45-6:30: Elementary headshots\, bios\, and costume measurements (Elementary parents should come with their student)\n6:30-7:30: Mandatory meeting for cast and parents (Jr/Sr High parents do not need to arrive until 6:30)\n\n\n\n \nAudition Packets/Forms\nElementary Audition Form\nComplete this form digitally\, or print a physical copy here to fill out. \nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Parent/Guardian Info and PermissionSubmission of this form grants your child permission to audition for the 2026 FRCS Spring Musical\, Mary Poppins.Parent/Guardian Name *FirstLastParent/Guardian Email *So we can email you a copy of this completed form.Parent/Guardian Phone *FEES: Cast fee for Elementary Ensemble is $150. SUMMARY:Learning Services Workshop
DESCRIPTION:At FRCS\, our mission is “to partner with the Christian home and the church in training children for life and equipping them to impact the world for Christ.” \nWithin Learning Services\, we strongly believe that our students are most successful when we are able to partner with the home because learning happens everywhere. Each of our parents has already made a significantly impactful decision in choosing FRCS’s teachers and community to come alongside them in raising up their students in an academically rigorous environment. \nTo further the partnership between home and the school\, the Learning Services invites parents to participate in a 3-part series of workshops geared toward understanding how your child’s brain works and providing practical tools and strategies to support them at home. \nDuring the first workshop\, we will outline the structure of our Learning Services department and help you understand the types of support and resources we offer from preschool through 12th grade. \nAt the second workshop\, we will dive deep into the mind of students with dyslexia using a simulation designed by the Dyslexia Training Institute. \nTo conclude the series\, we will explore a variety of different learning differences including ADHD\, anxiety\, dyscalculia and more. This exploration includes ways in which you can support these learning differences at home\, reinforcing what students experience at school. \nYou are not required to attend all 3 sessions if you register for the workshop. You are invited to all three\, but are welcome to attend whichever best fits your needs as a parent. Sessions are in January on Thursdays (15\, 22\, and 29)\, from 5:30-7pm. Childcare is available for $5 per family\, with the option to donate more to support our school programs. \nRSVP FOR WORKSHOP
