The days follow a different schedule and there is no chapel (therefore no late start on Wednesday) during this week. \nLearn more on the J-Term web page. Please note that this event is only for FRCS elementary boys and their mother/mother-figure. Non-FRCS friends and non-elementary siblings may not attend. \nFamilies are encouraged to bring their own Nerf equipment and eye protection (though equipment will be available at the event). NOTE: if you bring your own ammo\, it will not be returned to you. Participants must wear socks (shoes and bare feet are not allowed during the session) and are encouraged to wear clothing that’s easy to move in. Eye protection is required and will be available at the event if you don’t already have some. Participants are also encouraged to bring a water bottle for after the session (they will be stored in the Commons). \nSpecific information\, including details about tickets\, will be posted here once it is available. \n

SUMMARY:Iowa Assessments (grades 7-10)
DESCRIPTION:Students should arrive at school by 7:40am and must be in their assigned classrooms by 7:50am to begin the Iowa Assessments on time. Testing should be completed by 1pm for freshmen and sophomores and 2:15pm for junior high students. Students are dismissed at the conclusion of testing. Please be present to pick up your student at the designated time\, as there will be no supervision on campus outside the testing times. \nA Digital Assessment\nThis assessment is completely digital so students must bring their computer or iPad (note that student-owned Chromebooks will not work); junior high students will use a school-owned device. Please make sure the devices are fully charged and that students bring a charger with them on test day. \nStudents should also bring their calculator. \nAbout the Assessments\nThe Iowa Assessments help us determine how our students are performing compared to nationwide standards. These assessments measure achievement in several important content areas including Reading\, English Language Arts\, Mathematics\, Science\, and Social Studies. The exact tests each student takes depends on his or her grade level. \nThe Iowa Assessments also measure student growth and progress in the content areas assessed from year to year and provide information about college readiness for older students. \nPreparing for Test Day\nA student who is well rested and fed and who has a positive attitude about testing is best prepared for testing. You can help your student do his or her best by considering these tips: \n\nMake sure that your student is in school and on time on the test day. Reschedule dentist appointments and other out-of-school time for non-testing days.\nMake sure your student gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before testing.\nRemind your student that these tests are only one measure of what he or she has learned. Emphasize that you have confidence in his or her ability to do the best job possible.\nRemind your student to listen to the directions and read each question carefully during testing. Encourage your student to ask the teacher for help if he or she does not understand the directions.\n\nScore Reporting\nThe school will receive test scores about 6 weeks after test day. The scores indicate how your student performed on the tests compared with students across the nation in the same grade. FRCS will release testing information once we receive the results. \nThank you very much for encouraging & supporting your student during testing. DESCRIPTION:Juniors will visit the Colorado Christian University (CCU) campus this day\, either driving themselves or in small groups. \nSchedule (please note that the schedule may change as the event draws closer): \n\n9:30am: Meet at CCU — Check-in at the Anschutz Student Center front desk\n\nIf you are driving yourself or in a small group\, you will need to pick up a parking pass from Mrs. Self\nIf you want to ride from the school\, email Mrs. Self by April 6\, so that we reserve the appropriate number of vans or cars. We’ll meet at the school at 8:45am\n\n\n9:45am: Walking Campus Tour\n10:50am: Chapel with the Student Body\n11:45am: Admissions Presentation\n12:45pm: Lunch in the CCU Dining Commons\n1:30pm: Conclusion of group visit\n\nStudents will be treated to a tour\, lunch on campus\, and a presentation in which they are welcome to ask questions about the school and college entry. Even if students are considering other schools\, this is a great opportunity to get a taste of college life with others in their class. \nThis is Senior Class Photo Day and students grades 7-10 are taking the Iowa Assessments.

Children preschool through 6th grade may be dropped off at the AfterCare room (A12)\, and picked up from the same room after the meeting. \nThese meetings are casual in nature and an important part of our communication with parents and community in our school.
