SUMMARY:YMHFA Class for Parents
DESCRIPTION:Since 2021\, FRCS has offered Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) classes to all of our faculty and coaches. That same year\, we began Teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA) classes for our 10th grade students as a regular part of their fall rhythm. We have seen both students and adults put their MHFA skills to work as they have walked alongside young adults experiencing mental health challenges. \nThis year\, we offer this same YMHFA training to all FRCS parents. It provides valuable information for anyone who spends any amount of time with youth. In the course\, you’ll learn about common mental health challenges that affect youth\, how to differentiate between typical adolescent development and a mental health challenge\, and practice a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety\, depression\, substance use\, disorders in which psychosis may occur\, disruptive behavior disorders (including ADHD)\, eating disorders\, self-injury\, and suicide. \nThe YMHFA course for parents is Saturday\, August 30\, on the FRCS campus. We begin at 8:30am and wrap up at 3:30pm. The cost for the course is $35 per adult and includes a Processing Guide\, snacks\, and certification. Everyone should bring a brown bag lunch. Registration (complete the form below) is open until Wednesday\, August 27. Feel free to invite a neighbor or a friend! \nIf you have any questions\, please reach out to Suzy Eitzen at seitzen@frcs.org. \n\nRegister for the Class\n[forminator_form id=”55794″]

SUMMARY:Godly Sexuality Conference - Senior High
DESCRIPTION:Front Range Christian School is excited to partner with Authentic Life Church to bring you two conferences around the topic of godly sexuality. Both conferences feature Shelly Donahue\, a decorated guest speaker on this topic\, and in both sessions Shelly teaches parents to overcome fear and talk to their kids about sexuality with confidence and competence. At the same time\, teens gain a clear vision of the physical\, emotional\, spiritual\, financial\, and relational benefits of waiting until marriage. It’s a wholistic approach to relationship education. \nWe believe that this topic is important\, and we see a profound opportunity here for the church and the school to partner together. The focus of this time is to help students reflect about how to love well\, how to live well\, and how to find their identity in Jesus Christ. \nThis session is specifically intended for senior high students and their parents (there is another on November 9 for students grades 6-8 and their parents). The session is designed so that parents or guardians should attend alongside students (don’t worry — it won’t be totally awkward!). Please note that this event is not exclusive to FRCS\, and others from outside our school community will also attend. In fact\, feel free to invite friends or others in the Littleton area! The cost is FREE\, but we ask that you register in advance by using the button below. A pizza lunch will be served at the conference. \nREGISTER \n\nIt is also worth mentioning that we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to partner with Authentic Life Church to bring this event to you. If you see other opportunities for FRCS to partner with local area churches\, then please let Mr. Spector or Mrs. Hart know.

SUMMARY:Scheduled Snow Day
DESCRIPTION:As an item for the Auction last spring\, we auctioned an opportunity to call a snow day for the school in the fall. The date for this scheduled snow day is set for Monday\, November 10. There will be no school this day. \nWhy are we letting a family call a snow day?\nCalling a snow is a fun\, unique item made available at the FRCS Auction. Several families bid on the item\, which makes it a great fundraiser for the school — similar to items like the teacher outings or “be a teacher for a day.” The chosen date must be approved by FRCS Administration to ensure it does not disrupt learning or already scheduled activities. Unlike other snow days\, planning one allows us to notify families in advance. \nAll schools in Colorado build in a contingency for a certain number of snow days each year\, to ensure that all required days of learning remain available to students in the schedule\, even in cases of bad weather. Being able to auction one of these contingency days is a fun way for the school to raise some money and give a family the chance to create a planned day off for all students. This auction item is planned and designed to NOT interrupt instruction and learning time for students. \nMy child is in the ECE program\, and I still need care for that day. Can I bring my child to school?\nYes! For our preschool\, PreK\, and kindergarten students\, it is an optional snow day. If you need care on these days\, you can bring your young students in for a great day of learning and fun. If you would like to have a snow day and stay home\, have fun! We do ask that you let ECE staff know what your plans are so that they can staff the ECE accordingly. \nWill FRCS offices also be closed?\nYes; it is\, after all\, a snow day!

SUMMARY:Godly Sexuality Conference - Grades 6-8
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: The date for this conference has been updated. The speaker had to adjust the date due to unforeseen circumstances. Everything else about the event remains unchanged. \nFront Range Christian School is excited to partner with Authentic Life Church to bring you two conferences around the topic of godly sexuality. Both conferences will feature Shelly Donahue\, a decorated guest speaker on this topic\, and in both sessions Shelly teaches parents to overcome fear and talk to their kids about sexuality with confidence and competence. \nThis session is specifically intended for middle school and junior high students (grades 6-8) and parents (there is another on October 5 for senior high students and parents). Hart know.
