Boys Varsity Basketball: Kyle Stidom
I am from Morehead, Kentucky, but grew up in Indianapolis. I played high school basketball at a Christian school in Greenwood, Indiana. The years I spent at that high school helped change my life. While playing basketball there, I scored 2,059 career points and collected over 1,040 rebounds allowing me to be one of only three people to accomplish this feat in the history of Indiana high school basketball.
Following high school, I went on to play college basketball at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for one season before transferring to Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, for the remainder of my career. I became an All-American at Taylor and scored over 1,600 points in my three-year career there.
After college, I immediately got a job working for Indiana’s NBA team, the Indiana Pacers. I was doing sales and marketing for them, but I knew my passion was with coaching and impacting others through the game of basketball. I received an opportunity to become an Assistant Basketball Coach for the University of Indianapolis’ women’s basketball team, and I decided to take it. I learned a ton coaching at the collegiate level this past year as well as through all of my experiences coaching camps, clinics, AAU teams, training, etc.
My passion is using the game of basketball to impact people both on the court and whoever may be watching us. I am beyond blessed and excited to be your head coach!
Cross Country: Michele Bierstedt
I am very excited to coach the Cross Country Team this year. As a runner myself, I have a passion for the sport and want to support the athletes at FRCS as they pursue their goals while glorifying Christ.
I grew up as a swimmer, and was All American in High School. I continued to swim for West Point in college and competed in NCAA II Championships, where I specialized in distance freestyle events. I began to coach at West Point, where I coached the intramural swim team.
My running career began in the Army, and I am currently an avid trail runner. I have competed in many trail marathons and ultras, including four 100-mile races. I was previously sponsored by Montrail, and am currently on the PR Bar racing team. My most recent race was the Northfork 50k in Pine Valley Park, CO. I am also on the board of the Highlands Ranch Running club, where I participate in runs and help coach the long distance runners.
I am a former High School Science teacher, and love working with high school and middle school students! I have a degree in Economics from West Point, an MBA from University of Colorado, and a Colorado teaching certificate in Science and Math. In addition to coaching at FRCS, I currently work for a non-profit that sponsors global collaboration programs for students.
My husband, Adam, and I have one daughter, Kiera, who will be entering 9th grade at FRCS this Fall. In addition to running, I enjoy spending time with my family, spending time in the mountains, and reading. I look forward to this cross country season!
