“I really like Civics. It’s probably my favorite class. We not only learn about history and about the past, but we also learn about what’s going on right now. For example, students do Republican presidential candidate updates each Friday so we know what’s happening in the presidential race. (This semester we focused on Republicans since the sitting president is a Democrat without opposition for re-election, as the election draws closer, we will look closely at both major parties as well as other candidates.)
“Government class is interesting because we learn the model of our government, and Mr. Grieving is really educated on how it all works. He makes class really interesting because he shows us presidential debates and current events. Class isn’t boring because history is happening before our eyes. And the in-class activities are always interesting.
“Learning history in a Christian school is extremely different. In a public school you learn about history, but it’s taught that there’s nothing right or wrong about what happened. When you learn history from a Christian worldview, you can see where God was working in all those events, and how He worked in people like Abraham Lincoln.”
