Philosophy

Basketball is a microcosm of life. Like any sport, it is merely a vehicle that provides the training grounds for student-athletes to absorb essential spiritual and physical qualities.

Coaches

Varsity Head Coach: Mike Anderson

  • BA from University of Idaho/South Dakota State University
  • All-american high school athlete, student-athlete at collegiate level
  • Coached basketball at youth level and have run and assisted in numerous camps and clinics

I chose to coach at Front Range Christian School because it provides an opportunity to use the “Game of Basketball” as a platform to minister and physically develop student-athletes. FRCS student-athletes possess an engrained spiritual base that allows coaches to reinforce/instill values and influence character in preparation for the “Game of Life”.

C-Team Head Coach: Ken Hayes

  • BA in Human Performance (emphasis on Exercise Physiology), New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU)
  • Competed in varsity soccer and varsity wrestling at Potomac Senior High School (PSHS); Played football for NMHU
  • Served as assistant soccer and wrestling coach at PSHS, graduate assistant football coach at NMHU, and assistant coach for football, basketball and baseball at FRCS.

I was given a gift, by the Lord, in dealing with and communicating with pre-teens and teenagers. The Lord drew me to FRCS for His glory, with my awesome wife’s support. It is a blessing to be around the young people here at FRCS. They have blessed me more than they know, and I hope the same can be said by them in the future!

Varsity Assistant Coach: Vaughn Larsen

  • BS in Electronics Engineering, Summa Cum Laude, Metropolitan State College; BS in Electrical Engineering, Colorado State University
  • Played high school basketball and soccer and soccer at CSU
  • Coached soccer in youth through high school for 12 years; coached basketball in youth through high school JV for six years

The co-curricular activities at Front Range Christian School provide opportunities for kids to learn lessons and apply principles in mini-life labs. I get to spend more time with kids than the average parent in the U.S. spends with his own child, which is why I love practice. As a coach, I have been granted the opportunity to encourage kids in their pursuit of excellence on and off the court. In return these kids give me hope for the future as they continue to amaze me with their abilities in leadership and life.

Varsity Assistant Coach: Dennis Raarup

  • Doctorate and served 2 years in the U.S. Army
  • Has coached for over 50 years (8 at the high school level and 42 at the college level); has coached 8 different sports, including football and basketball

I have coached for many years and enjoy it. I am married to Sharon with three children and five grandchildren.
