We have had one league game so far and won 5-0. Varsity soccer girls are five games into the season and have been playing their hearts out. We have four wins and one tie. We just finished playing St. Mary's Academy on March 20, and tied them 0-0. It was a great game to watch and play in! The girls left everything they had on the field and were “All In,” which is our theme this year.

From Coach Hayes

On 2/2/12, the C Team had a home game against Denver Academy. We came out with a tough fought victory, 30-25. We started strong, then had a let down after halftime. The boys showed a lot of poise and character in coming from behind, after letting an 8 point lead go. Our leading scorers were Josiah LeDoux-Hayes with 9 pts. and Braiden McLean with 6 pts.

On 2/8/12 we played 4A Evergreen High School. We lost this game 66-24. However the boys again showed a tremendous amount of poise, character and courage. They continued to play until the final buzzer. We showed well against a 4A school who also played some of their JV team down. Our leading scorers were Braiden McLean with 6 pts., Nate Peterson with 5 pts., Connor Little with 4 pts. and Josiah LeDoux-Hayes with 3 pts.

From Coach Hayes

We split our round-robin tourney this past weekend. winning one, and losing the next. They were, however, both close and exciting games.

Game 1 was against the Jim Elliot JV team, we won 35-34. The leading scorers were Seth Scadden with 10 pts., Connor Little and Josiah LeDoux-Hayes with 5 pts., Ryan Rhoads and Tim LaMoureux also chipped in with 4 pts. each.

Game 2 was our 3rd game against the JV team from Arrupe Jesuit. We were down 24-15 at halftime. The boys put on a spurt through the 3rd/4th quarters and the final score was 37-35, with us losing by 2 pts. The leading scorers for this game were Braidon Mclean with 12 pts., Sampson Briggs with 8 pts., and Seth Scadden with 5 pts. We put on a full court press to start the 2nd half and this proved to swing the momentum. We got some quick steals and points. Though we ended up on the losing end on the scoreboard, our players showed great determination and effort throughout.

Great job Falcon C Team!!!

The C Team is currently 3-2.

We opened with a decisive victory against Arrupe Jesuit 38-6. Connor Little was our leading scorer with 8 pts, with Braidon McLean scoring 7 pts.

Our 2nd game was a much closer victory against Jim Elliot(JV) with the score 38-36. Seth Scadden was our leading scorer with 15 pts., Garrett Williams scored 8 pts.

Our 3rd game was a tough loss against Denver Christian's JV/C team. The final score was 57-15. We just couldn't get any shots to drop this game. Garrett Williams scored 8 pts.

Our 4th game was another loss against Lyons JV/C team. The final score was 31-21, with Seth Scadden scoring 5 pts, and Garrett William scoring 4 pts.

Our 5th game was won, but it was a nail-biter. It was, somewhat of a rematch, against Arrupe Jesuit, but this time against their JV team, with the final score being 52-47. Braidon Mclean led our scorers with 12 pts, with Ryan Rhoads scoring 9 pts, and Josiah Ledoux-Hayes and Garrett Williams scoring 6 pts. each. written by Football Assistant Coach Brent Glossinger

One of the first things the head coach from Cripple Creek said when he got off the bus was “Do you guys still meet after the game to pray? If so, we have some things we would like you guys to pray for us for.”

Turns out that their original head coach had passed away suddenly during the summer because of heart issues and this had impacted the team tremendously. Also, the week just prior to our game with them the new head coach had found out he had cancer and was going in for treatment the following week. Needless to say, their team was reeling from both instances.

It was quite an honor and a privilege to meet with their players, coaches and fans after the game to put up/compliment how their team played with heart and to join with them in prayer during this significantly difficult time for their community.

It’s also worth noting that despite beating them so badly, their coach commented repeatedly that FRCS was one of the classiest programs he has ever faced and they enjoyed playing us every year. Their kids really respected our players for how they acted on and off the field.

MAT 7 gave us this unique opportunity to use football as a means to impact the world for Christ!

Three of the Falcons, out of 12 overall players in the league, were also selected for the Sportsmanship Awards; Paul Turner, Brax Rohde, and Jared Sloan. The Falcons will greatly miss two graduating seniors next year, both of which had strong golf seasons; Paul Turner and Zack Garcia. The Falcons will return two juniors next season; Jared Sloan and Brax Rohde as well as, sophomore Ben Anderson who made great strides in his rookie season with the Falcons.

Fans filled the bleachers to watch the Lady Falcons volleyball team play Longmont Christian school at home on Tuesday, October 4. The first match, the Falcons creamed Longmont 25 to 17. The second match was close, but brought the Lady Falcons a four-point victory by four consecutive points at the end of the match. The third and fourth games were also close—but not close enough. The final match saw both teams scoring points frequently, but not quite enough for the Falcons, with Longmont eking out a win 15-13.

Head Coach Kathleen Sherman said, “We are disappointed that we lost, but I know that they gave it their all and glorified God.”

While the game resulted in a loss, the Lady Falcons performed well and had a lot of fun.

Cross Country Team
The Runners Roost Meet, Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Reported by Chase Morris

Front Range may have a small Cross Country team of only 12 students but they made a big impression on the run on Tuesday. This was the only race of the season in which runners had to run through water—crossing a river four times then jumping back onto land. Both senior high school and middle school did very well. Every race had at least 300 runners. One of FRCS’s best runs was in the middle school girls race: our own Reiley Norton beat her best mile time at six minutes and 54 seconds. Coach Harrington said afterward, “They pushed hard and finished very strong, with all of the runners passing opponents on the way to the finish!” The Runners Roost meet was a great meet for the Front Range Cross Country team.
