Cheaper by the Dozen
Dramatized by Christopher Sergel
From the Book by
Frank B. Gilbreth, Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey
November 15 & 16, 2007

The book and play "Cheaper by the Dozen" are the autobiographical account of Frank and Lillian Gilbreth, an actual husband and wife engineering team and the parents of twelve children. The title and number of children is the only resemblance between the modern day movie and thier story. Together the Gilbreths were partners in their management-consulting firm and they derived "therbligs" (Gilbreth spelled backward) which is the breaking down of motion into simple teps. Frank invented a scaffold that allowed for quick adjustments as a construction worker changed levels and provided a shelf bringing the materials within reach. Lillian assisted handicapped individuals by designing a kitchen layout to meet their needs. It is fun for us to present the lives of this quirky and charming family for your enjoyment.
