Boys Basketball Team C Update

From coach Hayes:

The C Team is currently 3-2.

We opened with a decisive victory against Arrupe Jesuit 38-6. Connor Little was our leading scorer with 8 pts, with Braidon McLean scoring 7 pts.

Our 2nd game was a much closer victory against Jim Elliot(JV) with the score 38-36. Seth Scadden was our leading scorer with 15 pts., Garrett Williams scored 8 pts.

Our 3rd game was a tough loss against Denver Christian's JV/C team. The final score was 57-15. We just couldn't get any shots to drop this game. Garrett Williams scored 8 pts.

Bringing Glory to God through Athletics

What does it mean to bring glory to God through athletics? As a Christian coach my constant encouragement to our team is to play in such a way that the people who watch are caused to think about how awesome God is rather than the awesomeness of the team or an individual player. It’s quite a counter cultural idea, especially when you look at the way “big time” athletes consistently direct everyone’s focus on themselves after a great play. The constant example from professional athletes encourages student athletes to act the same way.

Jr High Boys Silver Update

Last week the Silver team opened the New Year with a convincing win at Legacy Academy (33-12). For the first time this year, everyone on the team scored in the same game! Top scorers in the game were Peter Lanting with 12 points and Ben Poppe with 5.

It is not uncommon for junior and senior high students to struggle with friendships. For students with special needs, making and keeping friends can be especially difficult.

As a special education teacher, here are some ways I have seen junior and senior high students struggle with issues related to friendship:
