Educational background and experience:

God’s path has taken me several directions over the past 15 years. 10 of those years were spent exploring and finding God’s calling for my life. For a couple of years, I worked as an admissions counselor at Samford University. It was here that I received a BA in English & in Human Relations. After my time at Samford, I headed west to complete a MA in Biblical Counseling from Colorado Christian University. Upon completion, I served for several years at CCU as the Director of Student Activities and then Resident Director. My life then took a turn that led my wife and me to move to Georgia where I served as Dunwoody Community Church’s Youth Pastor.  After 3 years, God presented a drastic twist. We moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where I worked as a Pharmaceutical Rep. for Takeda Pharmaceuticals.

Three years later, God finally opened the door to FRCS! After 10 years of searching for God’s will in my life, it finally came to an end. I have been teaching at FRCS since 2003 and I cannot imagine being anywhere else! Over these 7 years, I have taught 7th & 8th grade Language Arts, 9th grade Grammar & Composition, 10th grade World Lit. & World Lit. Honors, 8th grade Bible, 9th grade Life of Christ, 10th grade World Religions, 11th & 12th grade Becoming Like Christ: Discipleship, & 12th grade Apologetics. My other responsibilities include organizing Chapels, Retreats, the Discipleship program, and helping coach football & basketball. I have also obtained a MA in Curriculum & Instruction from CCU.

With regards to my family, God has blessed me wife a wonderful wife, Heather, and two boys, Cole (9) and Anders (6). Heather and I have been married for over 10 years. Cole is in 4th grade at FRCS and Anders is in 1st grade.

Why do you teach?

I teach because I truly believe that this is God’s calling for my life. Teaching doesn’t feel like a job. Each day I have been given the opportunity to help others along their path to living God. It just doesn’t get any better than that.

Why do you teach at FRCS?

Again, I think it is a God thing that I am here. When I was looking to make the career change to teaching, I thought for sure it would be in Tennessee where I grew up and went to school. I look back and clearly see how God directed us here.

A couple things mean the most. One is our Board. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate and value working for a Board who is committed to God! Another significant reason I appreciate being here is the school’s commitment to God’s word, Discipleship, quality education, and outreach. This combination is not found in many high schools. I cannot imagine teaching anywhere other than FRCS!
