Educational Background & Experience:

I graduated from Dordt College, a Christian liberal arts college in Sioux Center, Iowa.  I hold a B.A. in Secondary education with a Spanish major and an English as a Second Language minor.  I currently hold a Colorado State Teaching Certificate and an ACSI teaching certificate.

I have 13 years of formal teaching experience ranging from pre-school to adult classes.  I have 4 extra years of private tutoring experience while I stayed home with my children when they were little. 

Why do you teach? I teach because God has called me to this ministry.  I have had excellent role models as teachers.  Specific examples being my parents, my father-in-law, and nearly all of my grade school and high school teachers at the Christian schools I attended.  God placed these people in my life to exemplify his love and what it means to work as a servant to transform God’s Kingdom.  I love my subject matter and making it come alive for my students whether it comes easy for them or whether it is hard for them.  I love the relationships with students and how they color my life with their joy and laughter.  I strongly feel that I am called to support them in the times they need encouragement. 

Why do you teach at FRCS? The Lord led me and my family to FRCS.  He knew we needed to be here as a family.  My husband and I first checked out Front Range so our children could attend a Christian school that was closer to our home.  We loved what the school had to offer.  In that process, God opened up a teaching position for me at the high school.  It was the bow on the package! 

My passion in life is to live for Jesus and to reflect his love.  I am passionate about living joyously in gratitude to God for the gift of salvation through Jesus.  It is my passion to share Jesus with kids in underprivileged situations.  However, God has placed me in a school to share Jesus with kids in very privileged situations here at FRCS.  I am happy to oblige his place for me at FRCS!

I love to camp with my family and ride ATVs and motorized dirt bikes.  I spend a lot of time crocheting.  I love to watch sports.  My favorite sport to watch is football (while I crochet.)  I quilt, sew, and scrapbook.  I also enjoy cooking and entertaining guests in our home.  Sporadically, I will exercise and enjoy it.  I am very involved in my church and currently serve as a deacon.  I also lead a ministry of meals for sick and hurting people in my church.
